Wood Dickinson is an award-winning filmmaker and principal at Renegade Pictures, a division of Think, LLC. After being at the helm of Dickinson Theatres from 1990 to 2000, Dickinson sold the exhibition company and founded Think, LLC. In 2006 Dickinson made his first film; a documentary called Vanguard Nights. This was a film documenting the regional musical icon Danny Cox with a special performance and interviews. It aired on PBS.
His first feature film was Raising Jeffrey Dahmer. He wrote the screenplay with co-writer Christopher Ryan. The film was made in Kansas City and produced by Wood Dickinson. It was sold to LIONSGATE for their direct-to-video market.
Dickinson then wrote the story for Drifter: Henry Lee Lucas and wrote the screenplay with Christopher Ryan and Michael Feifer. Drifter stars Antonio Sabato Jr. and is distributed in North America by LIONSGATE as well as internationally. Drifter won best director, best actor and best actress at the Beverly Hills Film Festival in 2009. Drifter also won one Silver Telly Award for Budget and two Bronze Telly Awards for Cinematography and Editing at the 30th Annual competition.
Dickinson then produced Abandoned starring Brittany Murphy, Dean Cain, Peter Bogdanovich and Mimi Rogers. This film aired on the Lifetime Channel and was distributed by Anchor Bay in North America and is in international release. In the 32nd Annual Telly Awards, Dickinson won six Awards – Silver Awards for Entertainment, Editing, Cinematography, and Bronze Awards for Art Direction, Sound Design and Lighting.
Dickinson’s latest film is The Perfect Student starring Natasha Henstridge and Brea Grant. The film was released January 17, 2012 both in North America and internationally. It is in competition at the 33rd Annual Telly Awards.
Dickinson has several projects in development including a reality TV documentary. Dickinson has been an adjunct professor at Avila University, Donnelly College and St. Mary’s University. He is an accomplished fine art photographer. His last exhibition was in 2011. It was the culmination of an 18-month project documenting the homeless in Kansas City. The exhibition was called No Windows No Doors, On the Threshold of Homelessness.
Dickinson is the author of, The Madness of Robin Randle. This is his first published novel. He is currently working with his editor on his latest novel, Legend of the End. Dickinson is writing a new novel currently titled, The Great Alexander.
Dickinson graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in Film. Dickinson studied photography at TCU and was the first undergraduate to have an exhibition in the TCU’s main gallery. Dickinson is a member of the Silver Telly Council and the Horror Writers Association.
